The "Monthly Contests" are competitive events based on items found my members during the previous month. For these contests, the "month" is defined as the period between the previous monthly club meetings. The contests are as follows:

  1. MOST COINS: The most total quantity of U.S. coins (governed by coins found in the U.S. Coins Official Red Book) found during the month. This quantity can include coins submitted for MOST SILVER COINS, OLDEST COIN, and MOST VALUABLE COIN contests. The quantity shall be entered into the club records by the submitter.
  2. MOST SILVER COINS: The total quantity of U.S. silver coins (governed by coins found in the U.S. Coins Official Red Book) found during the month, including Silver War Nickels, pre-1965 U.S. silver coins, 40% sliver halves, or other U.S. silver coins. The quantity can include silver coins to be submitted for the OLDEST COIN and/or MOST VALUABLE COIN contests. The quantity shall be entered into the club records by the submitter.
  3. OLDEST COIN: The oldest U.S. coin (governed by coins found in the U.S. Coins Official Red Book) found during the month as determined by the date embossed on the coin. The date and coin description shall be entered into the club records by the submitter.
  4. MOST VALUABLE COIN: The U.S. coin (governed by coins found in the U.S. Coins Official Red Book) found during the month with the highest graded market value. The winner will be determined by an appraiser, selected by the club President. The winner's name, coin description, and appraised value shall be entered into the club records.
  5. BEST JEWELRY: Any jewelry piece that has been found during the month. Any item submitted for this contest can not be entered into another contest. The item shall be placed on display for the attending membership to view. A written description may accompany the submittal. The winner will be selected by a popular vote of the members attending the meeting.
  6. MOST UNUSUAL: Any item of unusual interest found during the month. Any item submitted for this contest cannot be entered into another contest. The item shall be placed on display for the attending membership to view. A written description may accompany the submittal. The winner will be selected by a popular vote of the members attending the meeting.

Awards will be given to the winner of each of the monthly contests. In the event of a tie, duplicate awards will be given. These contests are held at every meeting, except the September and December (Annual Hunt and Chirstmas Party). Thus, at the October and January meetings, members should bring, record, and enter any finds made since the August and November meetings, respectfully.

A special recognition and the title of "Grand Master Hunter" will be given to each member who has won five (5) different categories of monthly contests during the year, the year for this title being defined as from August meeting to the following year's August meeting. Once the title has been achieved, this person is no longer eligible to compete in the monthly contests for that year. Those not wising to compete for the "Grand Master Hunter" title may instead compete for the special recognition and title of "Master Hunter". This title is given to each member who has won five (5) monthly contests (at least one duplicate) in any combination during the year, with the definition of the year the same as for "Grand Master Hunter". Awards will be given at the club Annual Hunt for the MOST SILVER, OLDEST COIN, MOST VALUABLE COIN, and MOST COINS found during the year. The winners will be determined by the club records, and thus, all "Grand Master and Master Hunters" are encouraged to continue to bring their finds for display and to be entered into the club records at each meeting after obtaining their titles.
