Monthly Contest Rules: All MWAS club members are encouraged to submit entries to any or all of the monthly contest. The following is a list of rules that apply to the monthly contest. 1. Monthly contest items submission is limited to current membership of MWAS. 2. All monthly contest will have 1st, 2nd and 3rd places except the Best Display Contest will have only one (1) winner. 3. Only 1st place winners of the monthly contest will be eligible for Master or Grand Master except the Best Display wins can not be use to obtain Master or Grand Master. 4. The quantity of entries shall not exceed one (1) entry per contest per member in attendance. Each member can submit an entry to any or all monthly contest. 5. The same item cannot be entered in both the Best Jewelry, Most Unusual or Best Military Relic. 6. The item or items to be entered must be brought to the meeting and displayed by the finding member. 7. Any member who is unable to attend a meeting are allowed at the later meeting to insert into the club records their total coins, total silver, oldest coin and valuable coin found that missing month, to be applied to the annual contest. 8. All items submitted will be limited to metallic items found with an electronic detector that uses a search coil. The monthly Contest are competitive events based on items found by members during the previous month. For these contests, the month is defined as the period between the previous monthly club meetings. The contests are as follows: 1. Most Coins: The most total quantity of U.S. coins (governed by coins found in the U.S. Coins Official Red Book) found during the month.. This quantity can include coins submitted for Most Silver Coins, Oldest Coin and Most Valuable coins contests. The quantity shall be entered into the club records by the submitter. 2. Most Silver Coins: The total of U.S. silver coins (governed by coins found in the U.S. Coins Official Red Book) found during the month, including Silver War Nickel, pre-1965 U.S. silver coins, 40%silver halves, or other U.S. silver coins. The quantity can include silver coins to be submitted for the Oldest Coin and /or Most Valuable Coin contest. The quantity shall be entered into the club records by the submitter. The coins to be entered must be brought to the meeting by the finding member. 3. Oldest Coin: The oldest U.S. coin (governed by coins found in the U.S. Coins Official Red Book) found during the month as determined by the date embossed on the coin. The date and coin description shall be entered into the club records by the submitter. The coin to be entered must be brought to the meeting by the finding member. 4. Most Valuable Coin: The U.S. coin (governed by coins found in the U.S. Coins Official Red Book) found during the month with the highest graded market value. The winner will be determined by an appraiser, selected by the club President. The winner’s name, coin description , and appraised value shall be entered into the club record. The coin to be entered must be brought to the meeting and displayed by the finding member. 5. Best Jewelry: Any jewelry piece that has been found during the month. Any item submitted for this contest can not be entered into another contest. The item to be entered must be brought to the meeting and displayed by the finding member for the attending membership to view A written description may accompany the submittal. The winners will be selected by a popular votes of the members attending the meeting. 6. Most Unusual: Any item of unusual interest found during the month. Any item submitted for this contest can not be entered into another contest. The item to be entered must be brought to the meeting and displayed by the finding member for the attending membership to view. A written description may accompany the submittal. The winners will be selected by a popular votes of the members attending the meeting. 7. Best Military Relic: Any military relic that has been found during the month. Any item submitted for this contest can not be entered into another contest. The item to be entered must be brought to the meeting and displayed by the finding member for the attending membership to view. A written description may accompany the submittal. The winners will be selected by a popular vote of the members attending the meeting. 8. Best Display: a display of items collected during the current year. The item to be entered must be brought to the meeting and displayed by the finding member for the attending membership to view. The winner will be selected by a popular vote of the members attending the meeting. . Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of the monthly contest, except for the Best Display contest, there will be only one (1) winner. These contests are held at every meeting, except the September and December (Annual Hunt and Christmas party). Thus, at the October and January meetings, members should bring, record, and enter any finds made since the Aug and November meeting respectfully. A special recognition and the title of “Grand Master Hunter” will be given to each member who has won 1st place in five (5) different categories of monthly contest during the year, the year for this title being defined as August meeting to the following years August meeting. Once the tile has be achieved, this person is not eligible to compete in the monthly contest for that year, except for Best Display contest. Those not wishing to compete for the “Grand Master Hunter” title may instead compete for the special recognition and title of “Master Hunter”. This title is given to each member who has won 1st place in five (5) monthly contest (at least one duplication) in any combination during the year, with the definition of the year the same as for Grand Master Hunter. Best of the Year Contest. 1st place winning entries of the monthly (Aug-Aug) Best Jewelry, Most Unusual and Best Military Relic contest can be entered in the Best of the year contest for each of the 3 categories. Submitter must be present and bring the item to the annual hunt. The item will be placed on display for the attending membership to view. The winner will be selected by popular vote of the members attending the annual hunt. Best of the Year Display contest Anyone can enter. However submitter must be present and bring the display case to the annual hunt. The Display will be placed on display for the attending membership to view. The winner will be selected by popular vote of the members attending the annual hunt. Awards will be given at the club Annual Hunt for the Most Silver, Oldest Coin, Most Valuable Coin, and Most Coins. The winners will be determined by the club records. Thus, all “Grand Master and Master Hunter” are encouraged to continue to bring their finds for display and to be entered into the club records at each meeting after obtaining their titles.
