Looking back on 2008

Everyone's different and we all desire to find different thing's which makes this hobby very appealing to all people.  There is one particular relic that I found at a very early campsite that I will never forget!  It's not pretty or shiney gold or silver but instead...it is full of history, early history!  I can see this early military regiment camped along side this small creek and I can see them standing close to the fire warming themselves wondering what lays before them as they contemplate their journey westward.  This is a Army, General Service, cast pewter, 1-piece, 1808-1830.  This is my earlist military button found too date!  There is just something special about holding this button...

As I've said before, if only these items we unearth could talk. What wonderful stories they would tell.......
