What was your best/most memorable MWAS 2008 find?
« on: August 24, 2008, 10:08:56 AM »
Steve started this, but rather than steal his thread, thought I'd start one anew.
Let's see everyone's favorite find of the mwas year.

This is by far, mine. I found this in an old orchard in Maine. And I'd pay a pretty penny to know it's story.......

My most memorable finds for 2008 would have to be the 3 silver coins I found April 12th in the front yard of a house I just happend to knock and ask permission.  The coins were in great condition.  It was hard for me to believe these were the only coins I found in this yard.

This is an easy one for me to answer.  I got a new XLT detector this year, and the second target I dug with it was a Civil War Union Soldier Button that beats finding my first Civil War bullet, and my first Silver all of which I have done since I switched to this detector.

It is really hard for me to make up my mind, what I liked best.  Some of my best finds to me, are just junk to other people.  It runs from a pile of crusty clad from the clad pit, to Cemation Tags, to Little Orphan Annie.
The 1890 IHC was a first for me and was exciting to find, so I am going to choose it for my MWAS 2008 Find.

I don't have the great find like the rest of you.  I have included two items that meant something to me.  First is the ring I brought to our last meeting.  I was so excited when I found it and saw 18k gold.  Unfortunately, it is gold plated and not a real diamond.  However, it looks real and it fits.  I have worn it and received a compliment.  The other item is my commemorative pewter Silver Dollar City coin which is my only item to be highlighted on our web page by Don.  :) Hugh

I guess my most memorable day in '08 was my 9-silver day along with Captain's bars and button.  A close second would be a tie between my first Civil War bullet, and my first 1800's US coin, an 1895 Indian.
