Recovered loot
« on: February 22, 2008, 05:19:33 PM »
Back in the 60's we had a Boot Hill knockoff called the Gunsmoke Trading Post just west of town. It was burglarized in the late 60's and a large amount of silver and turquoise rings was taken. I later found out the loot had been disposed of when the crooks got paranoid, and through research found out where. Here is some of the rings my hunting buddies and I have recovered so far.

The field gets plowed so some are not in great shape

Nice finds, like the silver rings. Keep up the great detecting. By the way what type of detector you use?

I use a Whites DFX. I just ordered a Spider Super 12" last week that should be here this week. Can't wait to take it a location where I know some of the old coins are just out of reach of my stock 9.5 coil.

This location has been flooded on an average of every 20-30 years which deposited from 3-6" each flood. I pull coins from the 40's as deep as 9" in some areas. I know If I can get a few more inches I can get past the 1942 flood.
