Hello, My name is Rich McCardle. I am from Birmingham Alabama. I work for the Marine Corp and am here at the old Air Force base getting the 24th MOB ready to make a trip. I will be here till March 20. 2 winter ago I found a parole camp in Demopolis Alabama that was used by CS troops surrendered at Vicksburg. I have been hunting for many years and this is the first CS camp I ever walked right in to and was digging solid cast I buttons 15 minutes in getting out of the truck.

This is due to the W.L. Truman diary from here in Missouri that is posted online. In the old days it was regimentakl histories and OR's and of course word of mouth. When he wrote that they could see both the Tombigbee and Black Warrior rivers I new right where it was. It seems that all of the other state troops that were east of the Mississippi got to go home only the Missouri troops stayed as they could not get home with the Union controlling the Mississippi.

I am interested in talking with other diggers in the area that have researched Missouri CS troops.

Looking forward to hearing from Ya'll
