Soda bottle cache
« on: February 22, 2008, 05:29:56 PM »
Back in 1965 we had a major flood that hit a local Pepsi bottling plant. Last year I found out that the bottles at the plant had to be disposed of because of being contaminated by the flood water. 15,000 cases were thrown in a hole and buried east of town. As luck would have it the place where they were said to be buried was on my brothers land.

We found the hole all right. Each shovel load had bottles all over. Lets see. If I could get the 5 cent deposit back on 15,000 cases, which is 360,000 bottles, is $18,000

Man, I dont think I would be out there in flip-flops!! Thats pretty neat. I was a kid when the town I lived in had a train derailment and they buried alot of wine coolers and one gallon jugs. We used to walk along the tracks and find stuff they missed all the time. Of course being a minor I didnt dare drink any of it......... ::)
Memories made one plug at a time!!!
